The Tumor board is an interdisciplinary team meeting that is held once a month. The purpose is for various specialties to come together to discuss cancer treatments for specific patients. In addition to a medical oncologist, a radiation oncologist a radiologist and a pathologists, other specialists related to the part of the body where the tumor was found are encouraged to participate and share their expertise. Patient cases are discussed and a consensus of opinion is made on the best course of treatment for that individual. This brings a much more holistic set of treatment options because all of the patient’s providers are contributing and communicating.
